The workshop is open to IWW members and non members but we would appreciate it if you RSVP in advance as space is limited. We also need to know any dietary preferences (one meal will be provided each day) and if child care will be required. There will be childcare available for the Friday night public talk, and the workshops on Saturday and Sunday. They run from 10 am to 4pm both days and will be held in the Business Building at the luxurious University of Alberta campus.
This event is free of charge. On Friday night we will be hosting a public talk by Roy J. Adams Professor of Industrial Relations at McMaster University. He will be speaking about how recent rulings by the Supreme Court of Canada affect the right to organise, and how organising in the workplace is a fundamental human right regardless of government or employer recognition. Well, it’s that time again. It seems I can’t stay in one place for very long. my feet, they itch! They are oh-so itchy, i tell you, i can’t even bear it.Jessica and I are off to record in Vancouver the beginning of February, which will mark the end of my stay in edmonton and thus, the end of this here musical project. A musical project that I will probably be pining over for some time to come. Jess is off to the yukon in september and is doing some traveling around till then. i’m doing some traveling too, and some tree plantin.
We decided to throw this show, our last show, as both a fundraiser for our upcoming album/trip and a tribute to all who have supported us this past year. A few names especially come to mind that I’d like to mention- lex mckie & thoughtcrime inc for producing/mixing our demo and for so many other things, I don’t even know where to begin. michael zarowny, our beloved manager who kept us in check and worked the door for practically every show we ever did. brendan adams, who keeps me mentally sane. well, kind of mentally sane.. bryan roberts for coming to all our shows, helping with sound on several occasions, doing pretty much all of it for free and with a smile on his face. jesse sanderson for taking on the project of our album. and many, many more. Thank you everyone for your unrelenting kindness and encouragement. We [obviously] couldn’t have done any of this without you.
And obviously I would like to thank Jessica most of all. I will say no more, lest I rant excessively about jessica and all the wonderfulness thereof. Emphasis on wonderfulness.
Not to be trite but I really feel like music is an integral part of cultivating a sense of community, of bringing people together. And thus this band, for me, had implications far beyond the scope of simply playing shows. It’s about friends too. Friends, people, community, togetherness, creativity. All really important, all revolutionary.

We came across this mesmerizing tool called Wordle today and killed half an hour with it. It assembles word-collages out of any block of text. We dropped classic texts in by Pyotr Kropotkin, Emma Goldman, and Mikhail Bakunin, and these were the results.
